Ever had an idea for a movie? Lee's Movie Info is giving you the opportunity to pitch your idea and compete with other players in hopes of producing a short film.
Script Pitch 5 now open.
Version 4 ended on March 27, 2005. Read the pitches
Unlike previous versions of Script Pitch, you will have less
flexibility and more concrete objectives. Your ultimate goal is to create a pitch for a two to seven minute short film that LMI will produce and submit to Tribeca/Amazon's
short film competition. At stake, an opportunity to have your idea made into a short film and possibly reach millions of viewers and a share of $50,000.
While creativity is always a big plus, LMI (we) will be looking for concrete and practical ideas. Here are a few suggestions to keep in mind:
- Precision You have 7 minutes of film at the very most. Make sure your concept can fit into this limited amount of time.
- Budget No dream cast this time. Your ideas will have to compensate for the limited budget (we are covering all production costs) and production time.
- Appeal Although LMI Staff will pick the finalist on this site, Amazon customers will pick the winner of the $50,000.
- Feasibility The director will be shooting in and around Boston. A short film set in the desert (i.e. Lawrence of Arabia Redux) may not be possible.
Convince us and your fellow participants that your idea is worth making into a short film. Avoid adding details that do not sell the pitch, but do not forget that we are not mind readers - we can judge only what you submitted.
Prizes The top three (3) Script Pitch finalists receive posters and marketing analysis of their pitches. In addition, the top pitch writer (1) wins an all expenses paid production of their idea
including updates from the director and a DVD of the finished product. While Lee's Movie Info has no control of what happens with the Amazon contest, if Amazon customers choose your film as
the grand prize winner, you will split the $50,000 between the production crew and Lee's Movie Info minus applicable US Federal and State taxes (MA or CA). Additional taxes may apply if you live outside the US.
In the event a third-party purchases the rights to distribute or produce a full-length version of the short film, you will receive writing credit and residuals.
Director Jeremy Kaplan is a film student at Boston College. He has created several short films and documentaries throughout the world including Egypt, South Korea, Cuba and Costa Rica.
He is also a guest commentator on LMI.
