'Zodiac' Crowd Report: $6M Fri possible
By Lee Tistaert Published March 3, 2007
Zodiac?s Fri average might resemble Collateral?s; both pictures were shot digitally, and Zodiac has been getting some of the same praise for its mature tone.
The Westwood Bruin in LA was about half filled at 7:00, which is pretty good with 680 seats. There were also some nighttime sellouts in New York, which could indicate a strong per-screen average. Zodiac might come in with about $6.0 million on Friday, which would be close to The Score (also from Paramount), which debuted in just over 2,000 theaters as well.
If so, that might put Zodiac in line for a weekend take of around $17.5 - 18.0 million. Zodiac?s Fri average might resemble Collateral?s ($2,491), which grossed $7.9 million in 3,188 theaters. Both pictures were shot digitally, and Zodiac has been getting some of the same critical praise for its mature tone.
