Running Time: 30 minutes
Manages to be a mildly diverting and entertaining series.
I?m not often a fan of reality-based television, but I had heard about this show for quite a while despite never paying much attention. After a friend of mine sat me down to watch an episode of Punk?d one night, which involved Katie Holmes being tortured emotionally by director McG in one segment, the episode was fairly enjoyable despite its morbid nature. After that episode, I decided to watch the complete first season of this Ashton Kutcher series to see what the fuss is about.

While Punk?d does have its amusements, the fact that Kutcher pulled the plug on this concept after two seasons is a pretty good move. For those not aware, the series consists of Ashton Kutcher pulling pranks on his celebrity friends, placing them in embarrassing situations where they get in trouble for something, while we witness their reactions from a hidden camera.

Punk?d does start to get redundant after a string of episodes (some of the pranks are re-used), but still manages to be a mildly diverting and entertaining series. Some of the pranks on Kutcher?s friends are funny while others are more so amusing, but I sometimes didn?t care about the victim or the problem, and so there was not always a sufficient payoff. However, at just twenty-minutes per episode, the series ends up being an easy sitting time, but not hugely rewarding.
